South Africa

Invited by Gadventures & South Africa Tourism.

“I not only wanted to go out and explore wild places, I also wanted to be a voice for the animals.”

The amazing thing about photography is that it can be a conversation starter, either by creating an emotional response or by widening understanding. It has always been important to me to align with companies that share the same ethos and passion for the environment and all beings. Around the world, there is a great deal of variation in attitudes towards animal welfare in tourism, which is why Gadventures has adopted guidelines (endorsed by Jane Goodall) developed by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) in conjunction with the international charity organisation Born Free Foundation, whose mission it is to protect vulnerable animals from abuse.

We journeyed across South Africa, which is home to beautiful and unique wildlife, dramatic scenery and breathtaking coastlines. From surfing to sunset safari game drives at eco reserves, hiking mountains under the moonlight and watching to daybreak, kayaking in the rain, to bungee jumping from the highest commercial bridge bungee and up close and personal self-safari drives- South Africa, has it all.

Images captured on two separate visits, 2016 and 2019.
