Winter White

I’ve always wanted that cabin in the snow with a fireplace experience and Peppers Rundells Alpine Lodge fulfilled that exact fantasy. Only a 5.5hr drive from our home in Melbourne, Steen and I set off along the Great Alpine Road. I remember not too long ago someone recommended this drive to me as they knew of my love adventure and since google imaging it I couldn’t get this place out of my head.

I’ve known seen snow a total of 5 times, most recently in Lake Wanaka NZ, which was one of the best days of my life, but there’s nothing like waking up opening the curtains of your window and being surrounded by the overnight snowfall.

Dinner Plain is the cutest little town about 10 minutes down the road of the the action at Mount Hotham. We were really lucky that our first morning was the first snowfall in a few weeks and I couldn’t be more excited to be awake before sunrise. We seriously had such a fun time spending our days exploring the area and gasping/stopping the car at every opportunity because the natural beauty of this place is insane. We attempted to snowboard for the first time ever without a lesson... don’t do that! A lesson would have helped... a lot.

Returning to our little cabin exhausted and met with the most delicious meals from inside the Graze Restaurant - Peppers never miss the mark there! Retiring to bed, but not before unwinding by the fire with a glass of mulled red and the snowfall magically continuing out the window…

I highly recommend adding this to your lists of things to do in Winter (and you know I’m going to be back for Summer too!)

Thank you Peppers for having us, always an amazing stay.

And thank you to Canon Australia for the loan of their 70-200mm 2.8 and 16-35mm 2.8 lenses for our trip. I cannot wait to get my hands on both of these dreamy lenses to call my own.
